About the event

Participants will have the opportunity to make their very own hometown patch pillows in a beginner friendly guided sewing workshop! They'll go home with a custom pillow sewn using their own two hands. As well as new sewing skills and knowledge about textile sustainability, the ways it affects us, and ways we can fight it. If you have a sewing machine we encourage you to bring it in even if you aren’t confident using it. We will take a look and show you the ropes of your personal machine and begin you on the path of learning the many ways you can fight textile waste from home! If you don’t have a machine, no worries. We’ll have lots of sewing machines available for customers to use.

We will have the geographical patch options of Lake Michigan, Wisconsin, and Elkhart Lake ready for use, but if you have any other body of water, state, or country that you hold near to your heart, we encourage you to reach out and we will make one of your personal patches so it’s ready for you on the day of the event.

10% of all proceeds on the event will go toward the Sierra Club to help fight Line 5 Oil Pipeline. The Line 5 pipeline transports 22 million gallons of crude oil and natural gas liquids across 645 miles of countryside daily. This aging oil pipeline violates tribal treaty rights and poses catastrophic risks to the drinking water for 40 million people and one-fifth of the world’s surface freshwater. There are many inspiring organizations such as A.C.E and The Sierra Club fighting very hard to protect our Great Lakes from this mogul of a pollutant and we ask for your help to raise money and stop Line 5 once and for all!
